If
you have a hair stylist that you see on a regular basis
and you’re happy with their work, stick with them.
If
you need to find a stylist, start trying different ones
as far before the wedding as possible.
When you find someone you like, start discussing your plans
with them. If you need perms, figure out when your hair
looks its best and adjust your schedule so your perm will
be at that stage for the wedding. If you want to try a different
style, try it well ahead of time so that, if you don’t like
it, you can make other plans.
Several weeks before the wedding, bring your headpiece
into the shop and let the stylist design a hair style around
it. The same goes for manicures and makeup. You should strive
for a very understated "natural" look to complement
your elegant attire. Bring a picture of the gown to your
stylist so that she can get the whole picture. Try everything
out in advance and make sure you’re totally happy with the
results. The time to try things out is way before your wedding
day.
If you do all this in advance, you’ll be sure you feel
and look your best for the big day.
Make sure your appointment on your wedding day is scheduled
to leave you plenty of time to finish getting ready after
your hair is done. Shower before you go to the salon and
have the stylist pin your headpiece in your hair before
you leave the shop. Then go home and put on your makeup
(or have it done at the shop after your hair is done). Try
to leave time in between to relax. Some brides even schedule
massages the morning of their weddings! Do everything you
can to make sure you’re as relaxed as possible. And don’t
forget to leave time to have a small meal before you leave
for church. It’s a long wait till your reception and you
don’t want to have champagne or whatever on an empty stomach!
