Churches
There are some things to keep in mind when
talking to the church representative regarding your wedding:
What is the charge to use the church?
What is the charge for the officiant?
What is the charge for acolytes or altar
boys?
Must you use the church’s organist or may
you bring in your own?
If using the church’s organist, what is
the charge and will they be available for the rehearsal?
Are there restrictions on musical selections?
Is there a pre-wedding counseling schedule?
How is this handled if you are out of town?
Does the church provide programs?
If you provide the programs, will the officiant
approve them before printing?
Are pictures allowed in the church? During
the ceremony? Other restrictions.
Are you allowed to use the church after
the ceremony for pictures? For how long?
Are you allowed to write your own vows
or change the ceremony in any way?
Are unity candles allowed?
Are you allowed to throw confetti, rice,
bird seed, etc. outside the church?
How long should you allow for a rehearsal?
Would the officiant plan to attend the
reception? Give the blessing before the meal?
Are there any rules or restrictions on
floral or other decorations?
Are there any other rules or restrictions?
Is there another wedding that day? If so,
could you get the name of the bride to contact her and see
if you can go in together on church flowers?
