Ice
Carvings
Ice carvings are usually used only at larger,
more extravagant weddings. The better hotels often have
a person on staff who can do ice carving. Occasionally,
an ice company specializes in this craft. If you choose
to have one or several ice carvings, you should see samples
made by the person who will do yours. If you are having
these delivered to your reception site, you must make the
coordinator at the site aware of this, discuss where and
how they will be utilized and work out delivery details
with them. They may be used to hold food, as centerpieces
on a buffet table, or as a dramatically lighted display
at the entrance to the room. Uses are pretty much limited
to your imagination.
Butter carvings are also available from
some hotels. These are usually limited to being integrated
into a buffet table.
These carvings can lend a dramatic touch
to your wedding. But, please don’t overdo it. One or two
carvings will be focal points. Bunches of them will lose
their appeal and simply look overdone.
